The National Center for State Courts is an independent, nonprofit court improvement organization which respects your privacy.  When you use this website, we may collect information that you submit to us.  This privacy policy describes the types of personal information we collect on this website, how we may use that information, and with whom we may share it.  Our policy also describes the measures we take to protect the security of the information. 

Information we collect and how we use it

NCSC will only collect and process data where the processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests for which NCSC was established.  For Connected Community to facilitate the group discussions on improving court administration, NCSC may collect and process the following data:

Personal information. You may provide personally identifiable information such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, professional title, and employer on this website. 

Cookies.  To help us serve you better, we use cookies and other tracking technologies.  By collecting this information, we learn how to facilitate the user’s experience and improve our services.  We collect this information using Google Analytics. Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies and to delete cookies.

Information We Share

We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose personal information about Connected Community participants, except as described in this Privacy Policy.  We may share information provided by participants with service providers we have retained to perform services on our behalf.  We may share personal information with:  course providers and learning management systems which maintain a record of courses attended and certifications received; customer service providers; providers of newsletter services; providers of research and analytics including Google Analytics; providers of cloud storage services; and association management systems which allow us to operate, maintain, and improve our services; community networking platforms; fundraising management services and human resource services.

These service providers are authorized to process your personal information on behalf of NCSC and pursuant to our instructions, and only as necessary to provide these services to us. These service providers are not authorized by us to use or to disclose the information except as necessary to perform services on our behalf or to comply with legal requirements. In addition, we may disclose information about you (i) if we are required to do so by law or pursuant to legal process, (ii) in response to a request from law enforcement authorities or other government officials, or (iii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity.

Occasionally we provide links to other websites for your convenience and information.  These sites operate independently from NCSC and are not under our control.  These sites may have their own privacy policy in place, which we strongly suggest you review if you visit any linked websites.  We are not responsible for the content or administration of these sites, any products or services that may be offered through these sites, or any other use of these sites. 


Our operations are supported by a network of computers, cloud-based servers, and other infrastructure and information technology.  We and our third-party service providers store and process your personal information in the United States, but it is possible that this data could be stored elsewhere in the world. We retain personally identifiable information only for the period of time necessary to accomplish our legitimate business interest.


We use reasonable security measures to protect against the loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorized disclosure or destruction of personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information collected via this website and under our control.  We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards for this website.  Notwithstanding the precautions that we take, we cannot guarantee the security of information that you transmit to us, and thus shall not be liable for any failure to safeguard your information, whether inadvertent or otherwise.
